In September 2014, the biggest celebrity hack of all time would occur, and the internet would never be the same.

A hacker on 4Chan made a post, claiming that they had lewd pictures of various A-list celebrities. They then posted an address to their Bitcoin wallet, asking for donations. After some users sent the hacker around $100 worth of Bitcoin, the hacker began releasing the photos.

I like how privacy is only a problem when celebrities are targeted.

You know, I never understood why Apple never took the fall for this when it was clearly their fault. They should've had better security.

The best way to protect yourself from having your nudes leaked, is not taking nudes

Apple was probably like “hey we caught the hackers so we’re the good guys now!” Even though their iCloud was what got hacked

Sad fact: one of the celebrities leaked was a minor. The original zip hash was banned from many file sharing platforms, because nobody sane wants to share nor download CP. Not even creeps, apparently/thankfully.

Interestingly enough, what happened was these hackers had a private organization where they would share these photos with eachother (you needed to provide a photo to even get in). What happened was one guy went rogue and tried to turn a profit, and this opened the flood gates. Each hacker was now trying to sell their photos to get whatever little profit they could from it.

The most crazy thing is that those pics were release for only 100 dollars. They could gotten a few hundred thousand easily.

This is so disturbing. The people cheering it were even weirder than the hacker himself.
