You are absolutely correct about how the amazingly rapid advancements in robotics will affect your children's lives (and future livelihoods). In my opinion, this is the biggest societal question facing us: how will people find meaningful employment when automation can possibly replace all of the labor force. No one knows, we are on the cusp of a huge change.

It's a no brainer. Massive economic and personal benefits all round. I have been in IT for 30 years. A lot has changed. The company I work for is adopting AI in a big way. Anyone not embracing and being open to this new technology will be left behind. When I had a modem connecting to Ozemail back in 1993, I predicted then that the Internet would become our lives and it has. Nobody believed me. Robotics will be in our homes sooner than we are thinking in the near future but not as quick as BYD is predicting I'm thinking. I guess we will watch on like any attentive audience does.

I have predicted that BYD will release a superior robot soon! Or Xiaomi. My guess is based on how advanced Unitree's robots already are and that's a much smaller company than the Chinese tech giants who probably are capable of larger scale for mass manufacturing and larger research and development capacity for humanoid robots.

Sam, you know this was posted on April 1st, right? 😅 Always a red flag for satire. The robots shown weren’t developed by BYD, and the $10, 000 solar-powered home robot story from CleanTechnica appears to be a spoof—there's no corroboration from Chinese media or official BYD sources.

That said, BYD did announce a humanoid robotics division in December 2024—it's called the “Yao Shun Yu” project, under their 15th Business Unit. They're actively recruiting AI and robotics specialists, but everything so far points to early-stage R&D and industrial applications, not consumer-grade home robots.

Your video didn’t make that distinction and came off as rushed. I’d really encourage cross-checking stories—especially flashy ones like this—with multiple credible sources before running with them. That kind of diligence is what gives your channel long-term credibility.
