Watch This Before You See The Green Knight

David Lowery, the director behind "A Ghost Story" and "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" has teamed up with A24 once again to deliver what might be his most ambitious project yet: "The Green Knight." Based on an ancient 14th-century chivalric romance story, the film's casting of Dev Patel is sure to add a modern-day smolder to the somewhat more tame Arthurian tale. Combining a packed cast with a director known for his audacious projects, "The Green Knight" looks to be an indie smash along the likes of "Hereditary" or "Lady Bird." Excited? Watch this before you see "The Green Knight."

As an amateur historian, accuracy is unimportant for this film. The poem as is, is not a medieval history. Fantasy even in their time, with Giants and Magic, indeed to a Magic giant green man

I've had Tolkien's Gawain and the Green Knight on my bed stand for a month. Maybe I should give it a peek now.

I should have read this story when it was assigned to me in college.

I'm a huge fan of Dark Souls. When I had first seen The Green Knight trailer, I got hyped for the first time in a long time.

Tolkien did a piece on the Gawain and the Green Knight which is where I first came across it. I have several different written versions of the story now and it's a favorite. In the original British versions of King Arthur's story Gawain was the greatest knight of the round table before the French poets invented Lancelot. This story gives Gawain the spotlight he needed and deserved.

I hope people go and see this at the cinemas, giving hope to more artistic and different movies at theaters, instead of the typical products that get taken to movies these days.

I feel obliged to mention that in school, I was taught that "Gawain" is pronounced GOW-un, rather than gah-WAIN. Thanks...

So excited for this movie. A24 Arthurian fantasy count me in? All gloomy and moody but also likely well planned and shot. Yes

Great info on a movie I'm looking forward to. I read the late 14th-century Middle English chivalric romance this movie is based on - Sir Gawain and the Green Knight - in the late 1970s, when I was engrossed in early English literature. The translation I read was by a certain Professor Tolkien (and E V Gordon) ....and I then read LOTR...another excellent movie adaptation.

Ladyhawk is the second greatest movie ever made! And The Green Knight actually reminded me of Ladyhawk a lot, in terms of its immersiveness and realism.

Just saw this movie the green night. There was NO action at all. This is a DRAMA with a philosophical message. I loved The “sword of the valiant” with Sean Connery. This went in a whole new direction, which I call Boring… In my opinion, this is something you would watch on Netflix after you’ve ran out of things to watch. Dev did a great job acting as usual. The cinematography was great, but it’s 2021 guys, so I expected it to be. Other than that, this should’ve been on a streaming service, not in the Theaters. I wasn’t a fan on this directors take on Pete’s Dragon, and I am not at all a fan of his take on the sword of the valiant. There was so much room to do more and it just fell short every time. Sadly to say the best part was when it ended. I don’t think anyone will be watching this twice beside those who are still trying to figure out what the movie was about. Good luck guys…
