Borley Rectory burned down in February 1939, the ruins were demolished in 1944.

It isn't really surprising they'd pick up on the Borley tape; anyone interested in the paranormal, hauntings and those at Borley in particular, wouldn't certainly be aware of the tape's existence and would most likely have listened to it. It's easily located on YouTube. In fact, for any viewers unfamiliar with the tape, I'd recommend listening to that first - very eerie! :)

It's a pity the church was locked - the House of God should be open for those who wish to use it. Having said that, with so many ghost hunters descending on Borley, perhaps there've been instances when due respect hasn't been shown by some of those going inside...

The hauntings and paranormal activity aren’t said to have come from the church, but from the original rectory and the house that stands next door the the original site. As someone else has stated here, the villagers have since tried to keep these locations secret due to the influx of people coming to find evidence for themselves. Even the notice on the church states that.
