Is this India's 'most haunted' site? – BBC REEL

Entry to Bhangarh Fort between sunset and sunrise is strictly prohibited. It is believed to be a haunted site - the most haunted in India.

The fort was built in the 16th Century and became the capital of Raja Madho Singh's kingdom. It was quickly abandoned and many believe this happened because a local tantric cursed the fort and its inhabitants.

People who are stating nothing haunted in there, must remember these stories are the what tourists get attracted for and for that local people earn their daily bread..

More dangerous would be tigers leopards bears hyenas, snakes scorpions there than actual ghosts.

If it was somewhere in Europe, it would've been listed in UNESCO world heritage site

I don’t believe that this is a haunted fort. It’s a national monument belongs to Archaeological Survey of India. I was posted in Jaipur circle of Archaeological Survey of India in 2011 and visited at least 2-3 times, i never found anything which confirms these stories. All the monuments are closed after sunset so no question of going anybody in this fort in night. In my opinion all such stories are baseless.

If these stories would not have been there, then no one would travel 80 kms from jaipur to visit Bhangarh. But the place is very peaceful.

Interesting. Never deny the possibility of the existence of the unknown.

I had visited this place 6 years ago, and I found the place scenic! It was a lovely and quiet place. I don't understand why people tell it to be the most haunted. I can agree with the logic that the sounds may have come from wildlife creatures or rustling of leaves or any other such trivial thing.

For the people who love to visit fort for their architecture, there's not much to explore. Most of the fort and the palace are in ruins. Although, there are few temples to look around. I remember one by the pond where you can find humans and monkeys bathing inside the pond. That temple place was very peaceful.

Believe it... The truth is there is a curse around this place, witnessed it long back... Couldn't reach the place but still faced it's wrath.... All due respect to carry forward this places legacy.

Here's my story:

I and 3 friends tried reaching here around 2 am, but failed to reach destination and meet with an horrific accident... And we were hearing wierd unique noises in front of our eyes 👀 but couldn't see anything in front of us ... I respect this place... Can't forget

God bless the ghosts and may they haunt and be happy here for many centuries more to come. They have kept the crowds with their garbage and nise away. They have kept the place from morphing into a crowded, polluted, ugly city as is happening in many beautiful rural places. The place is so beautiful, and I thank the ghosts from keeping it so.

These legends are no different than the spin the british apply to the stories about their own tourist landmarks. Good for tourist interests (& business)

Hat was the real reason why it was abandoned?
