There's a lot of character depth in this scene. Hellboy quickly picks up (all be it while drunk) Abe falling for Princess Nuala and instead of making fun of him for it he gives him moral support by giving him a beer and singing along. This shows that they're more than just colleagues at work or partners in crime, they're brothers.
