Integration of Powers of Trig Functions

Powers of trig functions can be integrated by calling on trig identities. In this video, we focus on powers of sin functions, and show how to integrate sin^2, sin^5, and cos^4 sin^3.

For the third example, what if you changed the cos^2x to 1-sin^2x to have all the terms in terms of sin and then make u^2= sin^2x?

the rule is you have to keep a single Sin X and convert the rest to powers of Cos X, becasue you need just a single Sin X to replace the dX and put the du.

So can someone explain how you know which way to re arrange the equation from the start. For example, in problem 3, how did he know to get it in the form of cosx^4-cosx^6 * sinX. Because getting there is easy I just don't understand how he knew he had to get there. PLEASE HELP!
