Thank you for the video series. If you did more on Calvin it might be good to point out that his ideas were Augustinian. When one accepts Augustinian definitions of predestination, sovereignty, election, etc. then it reframes the Bible. Arminianism holds to these definitions as well as Calvinism— and it all depends on “total depravity” (which non-Calvinists describe as “singular inability “) which is not established in the Bible (although of course Augustinian proponents believe it is) Calvin said “Augustine is so wholly with me, that if I wished to write a confession of my faith, I could do so with all fullness and satisfaction to myself out of his writings.”

Also I always think it’s interesting that Calvin was an attorney and only a new believer when he started his institutes (and maybe only about 26 years old?!). Then went on to try his social oppression experiment in Geneva and put some to death when they disagreed

Eventually, I believe, to mention John Calvin and not Leighton Flowers in the same conversation and sentence will be the equivalency of mentioning Calvin and not mentioning Jacobus Arminius! I have never found a more influential thinker on the topic of Calvinism as Leighton Flowers. I have read Sproul, Calvin, Piper, McArthur, Westminster Confession, Norman Geisler, Arminuis, a little of Aquinas, and a whole slew of others—-And, I have never found anyone as prolific as Leighton Flowers. Needless to say, if you are engaging with Soteriology and don’t interact with Leightons Flowers work, then you are behind.
Great video though Dr. Huffling! I always love your work. I also realize that this was the topic of John Calvin—not Soteriology.
