What If Asteroid Apophis Hit Earth?

Показать описание
Asteroid Apophis was recognized as one of the most dangerous asteroids that could collide with the Earth in 2029. However, when astronomers watched Apophis and learned more about its orbit, their judgment of its impact evolved. Now, astronomers have concluded that there is no risk of Apophis reaching our planet for at least a century, thanks to the results of a new radar observation campaign paired with precise orbit analysis. But what would happen if it actually hit us? Watch the video!

Nasa saying the asteroid is very unlikely to hit the earth is like the CDC saying it will only be two weeks.

I suspect, if it was going to hit earth, officials would claim it would miss it us to avoid a societal collapse.

If this is coming within 20k miles of earth and we have that much notice, this is 100% an object we can interact with. Even if it isn’t a threat, we should practice changing its trajectory or destruction. To put it in perspective, it will be more than 10 times closer to the earth than the moon is.

See you all in 2030 for the post-Apocalypse party. Set the date: January 1, 2030. I wish us all cosmic luck.

Do you think NASA would tell us if something like this was going to hit us? Doubt it.

Would THEY tell us if a collision was imminent if there’s nothing we could do? We just successfully redirected a small asteroid. I wonder if they’d even let us know.

You know how when you roll two magnets near one another no matter the trajectory, the pull is still there. Now I know scientists have calculated this pull for sure, but there are unseen phenomenon like solar storms that can nudge the rock from its trajectory.

20, 000 MILES ?!!?!?! That's insane how close Apophis will come to Earth !!!

They say Apophis won't colide with Earth... how many times have scientists got it wrong in the past? Asteroid orbits are hard to predict and to say Apophis represents no danger, coming so close in 2029, Friday the 13th?

This brings to me all the themes from movies like Armageddon, Deep Impact & more recently Greenland. And there’s a new one coming up. It almost feels like predictive programming. When the time comes, the chosen few go deep into mountain bunkers, the rest just perish.

We've already demonstrated the ability to intercept and land on small objects. I would think before Apophis becomes an issue, we'll be able to attach rockets and fire them at it's apogee, changing it's orbit to no longer be a NEO.

Let's see. Apophis is flying by earth on April 13, 2029 and it will take a spin around the sun and come back to earth for another near-miss exactly 7 years later on April 13, 2036 which happens to be Easter Sunday. There's something awfully prophetic about this.

Makes you think why in the last 2 decades all the billionaires built there own bunkers if it's not safe

I would love to look through one of these telescopes and see the universe for myself. . .

It wouldn't be that hard to hide a certain asteroid strike as only a few people are smart enough and have access to the data and equipment. Though there are many nations with the abilities to track accurately and would be hard to cover-up for long.

Most of it is just talking about the trajectory. If you came here for the title then you're welcome 4:40

according to latest calculations it will pass under the geosynchronous satellite belt and will be visible with your eyes 22k miles/31kilometers

I'm currently having an existential crisis. This made me appreciate the life I'm currently living. I hope i see my loved ones once again if the asteroid is gonna hit earth
