Final Drive Oil Change

A "how to" on changing the final drive fluid on the M109R.

The crush washer part number is - 09168-14002
This is the same for the oil pan bolts as well.

My c109rt has 11, 000 miles, I haven't changed the gear oil, I don't know if the previous owner did. I've driven about 4000 miles. Tonight, out of the blue, I couldn't shift into 5th gear, and 4th was tough. Please tell me it just needs the gear oil changed...

Would it be advisable to use better synthetic or mineral oil? I'm a young motorcyclist. I have a 1994 suzuki intruder vs1400. All I see on the internet is oil sae 80w90 minerals instead of synthetic.

Should you do this when it's hot. ? Like rite after a strong 2 miles?

Does the bike have to be standing up straight like it would be on a stand or will the kick stand tilt be okay?

nothing worse than the smell of old diff oil from an M109 other than old diff oil from an old Dodge with hypoid lube added ! :)
