Great advice and video. I have traveled alone and feel that the benefits far outweigh the negatives. It’s just a case of taking the plunge. This will be a great video for any first time solo traveler. Keep the great content coming.

Love the practical advice. been solo traveling for a while, but not as much anymore now that bear is old enough to join me on most trips. We are planning a "green" road trip around the World and actively growing our channel and influence to try to inspire others to travel more and more responsibly. As father and son anthropologists, we are excited to teach and learn about our World and its wonderful cultures. Any pointers on anything related are always welcome. Cheers to your travels. - Turtle

Just a note to the ladies watching this video: Safety: Do not advertise the fact that you are staying at a hotel alone. Be careful about the information that you allow. Tell people you are staying with your family at the resort and that they've gone off to do their own thing. As a lone female traveller I can tell you that this is a mine field for women. Your room is more likely to be burgled and you are more likely to be harassed if your being alone is widely known. That's why you need to play cards close to your chest and be savvy. Travelling alone as a woman is very different to travelling alone as a man. The playing field is not even, even if you think that it is. You will be a target in some countries. Even in friendly caribbean countries I ran into trouble when I first started travelling alone. You have to be cautious. Just use common sense and if you want to be totally left alone, buy a fake wedding and engagement ring off a website. It will save you a shed load of trouble.

This'll be a tough one. What tips would you have for someone "freshly orphaned" in their mid 30's. as in, the only one left is they themselves? No Friends, no family to call.
