Bolton says Trump’s 2024 campaign is ‘poison’ for GOP and ‘will continue to go downhill’

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton told CBS News he is seriously considering a 2024 presidential bid and said that former President Donald Trump is a threat to U.S. national security who acted ‘very erratic’ and ‘was not impressed by the gravity and the importance of the national security decisions he had to make.’ Trump’s campaign, he added, is “going downhill and I think it will continue to go downhill.”

I wouldn't vote for Bolton if there was a better Democratic candidate, but I still think that his demeanor has aged well through the storms and travesties of the GOP. I fault him, though, for not standing up to Trump, for not testifying at the impeachment trial, but he remains more serious, more straightforward, more Reason unaffected by cheap political calculation than the other Republicans. For clear, logical, principled speaking skills, Bolton is exemplary. And for that very reason Bolton won't receive much support in the party because the GOP base only wants cultural warriors, cons and showmen. Thus the ideal presidential candidate for 2024 in the GOP is George Santos.
