My two step- sisters (that lived in separate states) fell asleep on a long distance call... I remember when the phone bill came in and the call was over $300.00 dollars 😂😂😂 The adults LOST it!!!

I can't remember where I read this, but it blew me away - instead of frantically copying everything the teacher/professor said during class, they just take pictures of the board and tape the class. Not sure how I feel about that. I think I retained more going from listening or reading to taking notes? Instead of just listening to the lecture and taking a quick pic of the board? I spent YEARS of my life taking notes in high school, college, and seminary. Taking pictures feels like cheating.
You didn't know the "collect call trick?" You call collect, and when it says "state your name" you quickly say, "I'm done. Pick me up at ____." and hang up.

I was hoping for an 80s one! GREAT time to be a kid. I was born in ‘77, which was perfect timing, since the 90s were a great time to be a teenager.

One of my children was born the same year you were born 😂
Okay, let's talk about the 1980's from my point of view.
☑️ In 1981, I graduated from highschool.
☑️ We had ONE highschool in my town.
☑️ We were friendly (if not actually friends) with ALL the social groups.
☑️ It was no big deal for anyone to "date" anyone else.
☑️ A fence was placed around the school in my senior year. Before that, it was an open campus.
☑️ I didn't know how accepted and included I truly

Lord, I would love for young people to experience this for themselves.🙏

I was born in 1981 - I miss the 80's & 90's SO much!

Rainbow Bright, Heman & She-Ra, Strawberry Shortcake, Gem & Cabbage Patch kids were THE BEST! Also, my dad built me an entire Smurf bedroom as a toddler, with toddler size mushroom homes & everything - and he brought home a stuffed Garfield that was so big he had to buy it its own plane ticket to sit next to him on the plane. 😂😂😂

I had - still have - the best parents & an incredible childhood. I wish I could go back!

That Blockbuster card will come in handy if you're ever in Bend, Oregon and have a need for some entertainment and are carrying a VHS machine in your pocket.

I was born in 1978, my first computer was a hand me down Commodore Vic-20, i still have my NES, i had the brown double screen Donkey kong 2 Game&Watch. The movies, cartoons sitcoms, and the music were the best. And MTV was the real deal. Renting VHS with a Movie box if you didnt had your own VCR is a nice memory too.

To summon it up: the 1980's were the best times of being a kid.

You're right about this digital stuff. Never scrap physical media. I still have a vcr and blueray/dvd. I have quite a few "cancelled" movies.

And, I utterly despise subscription software. That's a scam.

I remember all of this existing, but I didn't experience much of it.

My family never wasted money on McDonald's, so the glassware never showed up in my house; also didn't have much in the way of happy meal toys. (Once in a blue moon, I'd get McD's with grandparents, or a friend's parents.)

My Father didn't allow television, for the most part. We did have a TV and VCR, but no cable, no antenna. No need for TV Guide. I only got to watch TV when visiting relatives and friends.

My parents would not buy me video games. I did get an original NES, but it was already old hat; I paid $10 for it, and I got some games included. By that time, though, I had developed interests in other things, so I didn't play it much. It was cool for a couple hours on a rainy day.

Basically, if it was trendy, I didn't get it. Neither did my sisters. Looking back, I am SO thankful that my parents didn't buy me all that crap. And, it's funny; my house had NONE of the "cool" things, but my Mom was the neighborhood Mom. My friends, my sister's friends, would frequently come over to visit her, and confide in her. Mom was, and still is, very sweet and caring, greets people with hugs, and never passed judgement, even if she disapproved. And, it was common to find extra kids at the dinner table, every night. Having 4 sisters, I would often be about done eating, before noticing extra people, lol.

Child of '78 here. My favorite comedy of all time (Airplane!) came out in 1980. Ahhh, the old Oregon Trail computer game. Oh, the memories 😊

I find movies without cgi much more immersive than movies with cgi

I was born in 86 too but I clearly remember 89-90-91-92…Some of the best movies, tv shows and music came out at that time.

Born in 1980, Poland - video checked and confirmed as based on real events 😊❤ P.S. it's just impossible. How grate it was back then, although my 7 year old daughter, while just a short look in my screen as I'm watching it now, says that she feels so sorry for me and Daddy that we "had to go through such a hard times", just to add she seems still be stucked on the idea - one computer at school, in a special classroom 😊😊 HugeHugs 😊

A "huge" phone bill in the 80s is dwarfed by most of our monthly plans today.

I remember when DVDs first came out and my uncle, when the movie was finished, sat with his finger on the rewind button right back to the beginning so it would be ready for the next person. He was used to VHS tapes.

Oregon Trail was great, also got to play Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, not as fun as OT or Math Blaster, but still fun. as a homeschooled kid i had to make visits on occasion to an out of town elementary school, idk why i just cooperated with it.

you can get The Oregon Trail a number of ways, several versions are abandonware nowadays, meaning that it's legal to download a copy from the web. use a Windows PC and/or DOSBox to run old games like that on your modern PC. you're welcome.

havent seen Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal eh? i think that we have to fix that at some point.

here's one thing kids these days wouldnt understand, Saturday Morning Cartoons.
