The overwhelming majority of computing devices around the world DO NOT run Windows. Instead, they run a superior operating system known as "Linux." Linux is all around us but most people are unaware...

"Only degenerates uses backslashes..."
Truly that is gold!

I'm in the aviation industry. Yes, it runs entirely on Linux.

At my previous job, I used to work with two kinds of similar factory machines. They were the same make and model, both did the same thing, but one had an Alpine-based OS and the other was running Windows 7. Take a wild guess which one stopped working entirely when a forced OS update was pushed to it.

That thumbnail was perfect. I sent an old laptop with MXLinux to a friend of mine. His machine (windows of course) had died. Shortly after getting it and my instructions for basic tasks, he asked my why it was "doing all this matrix stuff" during an update.

Very cool video! I'd share it with my friends if I had any.

This video feels like something a computer science/engineer professor would put in their slides.

It's nice that Linux can be transformed for every need in existence. Unlikr Windows or MacOS which just use their things on their own devices.

I love the shots you took at backslashes. It had to be said

One thing to note, not ALL routers use Linux. Some have custom kernels (Cisco IOS) or some other OS, maybe FreeBSD or a fork of it.

Just a couple of years ago, I was using a Point Of Sale terminal that ran Windows 2000. Our CCTV system though, that ran Fedora.

Popular is a synonym for well known. Most used is not most well known 😅

Brilliant video! Kinda makes it easy to predict the future, too! Only a tiny handful of major apps need to be ported to Linux before Windows starts to become irrelevant. Photoshop and FIlemaker Pro come to mind. If I could get those on Linux, I would have no further need for Macs or especially, ugh(!) Windows!

Linux certainly put the fun back in computing for me and has taught me so much, I installed Debian back in 2020 as my first distro and I've been using it ever since, it's honestly given me the most reliable and no-nonsense computing experiences I've ever had. I really enjoy how Linux presents me with an abundance of opportunities to learn new things about my computer all the time.
