Crete's Most Famous Monastery - Preveli Greece

The monastery of Preveli is an historical landmark on the island's southern coast that is a 'must-see' for visitors and tourists down that way. Located on the beautiful hillsides that define Crete's south side, stunning views of the Med can be had during your touring stroll of the monastery grounds - and it's not too far from the fabulous Preveli beach.

The history of this monastery is impressive, dating back to the Venetian times, then being rebuilt after initially being destroyed when the Ottomans took rule of Crete.

Preveli Monastery was known to have housed those that would organize rebellions against the Turks, then again held historical significance during the Battle for Crete in Word War II.

The museum inside the monastery has some very, very old and impressive artifacts and dated written works, but the 'no cameras allowed' rule put a damper on capturing some for the video.

It's not my goal to go pissing off the Monks of Preveli.

What a beautiful location, and man - what a history!!!
