Chania Crete - Agia Triada Monastery
Показать описание
The Agia Triada Monastery of Chania Crete is really something special. It's large and one of the most famous monasteries of Crete and it is still highly active, as many locals gather there for mass - as they did on this day that I visited.
Built over three hundred years ago, the Byzantine architecture is impressive for both the main building and the two smaller chapels that make up the grounds of the "Holy Trinity" monastery, but there's something else about this historical, yet modern site that I love - it has its own wine cellar! Nice.
Fresh, homemade wine and olive oil are available at the shop that adjoins the monastery, and a quick tour of the place will bring you to a bar area - where there was wine tasting going on that day - and to the wine cellar, with barrels of wine sitting there fermenting waiting to be poured into VFC's wine glass, where it would quickly exit into VFC's belly.
Along the hallway are historical tools used for the trade of crushing grapes and turning them all into that beautiful drink that gives us so much pleasure.
Enjoy the quick tour through the Agia Triada monastery of Chania Crete and don't forget ---
