The most obvious and plausible answer is lack of quality.

It costs too much to go to the movies. It's cheaper to stay home and watch Disney+ and Netflix

Oh no. Down 4% on 12 billion! Poor little rich folk.

Going to the cinema means, you’ll have to make time to get there, find a parking, walk to the cinema, pay for overpriced popcorns and sodas, watch 5 hours of commercials before your actual movie starts, then walk back to your car, and then drive home. Hollywood, if you’re reading this, we all live busy lives, we can’t even wait 15 seconds for a webpage to load, think we’re gonna keep wasting time to go to the cinemas for mediocre films? Start streaming everything!

I just wait for dvds now a days, freaking hate when people come in 10 minutes into the movie and the light from the door opening, or when people are loud/have their cellphones out

Honestly, in my town, the Imax theater makes you choose your seats. As a family of 6, thats very inconvenient. So we all decided its easier just to wait for the movie to be released. Theres always a seat at home and the snacks dont add up to $60.

We have streaming services at home now where we can watch movies and enjoy snacks that don't cost more than the tickets do.

Disney needs to stop making a live action remake Disney Classics and messing up Star Wars. Worst Disney never me a live action remake of Gargoyles, Atlantis Or Treasure Planet!

Whats behind the decline of the theaters is simple:
*cost of theaters and movies
*unneeded remakes and reboots
*spending too much in advertisement.

Cost for 2 people 20$ in gas, 15$ in parking, 40$+tax for the movie tickets for 2 people, + 50$ in overpriced popcorn and No thanks I'll rather stay home & keep my money....
