Characters making bad decisions is not a plot hole.

Bruce Willis's character explained it, you couldn't teach the subtleties of drilling in the time frame they had, so the decision was made to have the astronauts basically function as taxi drivers and fly the drill crew to the asteroid as the drill crew would only need to learn the basics of their suits and operating equipment.

There is dialogue in Armageddon from Bruce's character that said there wasn't enough time to train the astronauts how to drill. So that isn't a plot hole. Like many people out there you don't know what a plot hole is.

Every time I see these videos mention the Armageddon drillers vs. astronauts thing, they always fail to mention that the mission is still led and commanded by astronauts in the movie. The drillers are just there to accompany them and perform the drilling aspect of the mission. The movie also mentions that the astronauts tried using the drill (designed by Bruce Willis' character) during training and kept fucking it up, a mistake they couldn't afford on the asteroid where they only had one chance. It's still dumb, but these videos are misleading.

They literally explained in the movie why he needed his drilling team as opposed to astronauts, you obvi have never even seen the movie.

In Endgame, when the a title card slowly reads "Five... Years... Later" I had to resist the urge to shout out "is that a Spiderman reference?"

Hollywood's universal answer to these questions is simply "Because screw you, that's why" .

You reminded me of my son. He is in media class and is a director of school events. He finds all kinds of things wrong with movies.

The Snowman is based on the book by Norwegian author Jo Nesbö. I read the book which makes very much sense. I haven't seen the movie, so I can't say anything about that. But since you made so much fun of the name... its Norwegian. Harry Hole is pronounced hawl-uh, not hole as in foxhole. And Harry does not mean hairy in Norwegion. Harry Hole is a detective who appears in many of Nesbö's books.

wasn't there a scene in Armegeddon where the plot hole was addressed? Or is it Mandela effect kinda thing?

I love the story about The Big Sleep and the idea that even author Raymond Chandler didn't know who killed the chauffeur. Outside of that, The Big Sleep is an amazing movie.

In regards to Armageddon: many astronauts also have military experience (mostly Navy or Air Force) and would not need much practice to operate drilling machinery

Although it was used in 1992, DNA evidence wasn't nearly as routine in murder investigation as it is today. And the scenario you describe relies on having a sample of her DNA, which she would have to give them.

9:45 Nice Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 reference. My sheer coincidence, I actually watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 just a few hours before writing this comment. I might not have remembered that it was a Guardians quote if I hadn't watched it recently.

check your sources. In armagedon harry explains prety well why they should not send astronauts to do the job. Where did you copy this topic from as crealy you did not watch movie yourself.

The Django one, plot hole or not, does make a fitting nod to Huck Finn. In the book Tom and Huck have to rescue Jim from slavery. They found they could literally just walk up and bust him out and leave, but Tom insists that's not how it would be done in adventure stories so they come up with an absurdly elaborate scheme to break him out. It ultimately works though Tom gets shot in the process.

*BTW all the more reason Django is not a fucking "western" as everyone calls it. It never takes place in the west and every element of the old west is incongruous with the South. Sparse vs. highly populated. New vs. old. Lawless vs. many laws and customs, etc.

NASA is actually looking at hiring professionals from various fields instead of retraining astronauts for future moon missions. They realized from the first moon missions that flyboys don't make good scientists. They did a great job with what they had back in the 70's, but sending an actual geologist is what they want to do going forward, instead of sending an astronaut to do a geologist's job.
