ALMOST always true, college basketball player here. In my situation I was really good and played really hard just didn’t really fit with my hs coach, so going to showcases and getting my name out there was the way I ended up playing NAIA D1 ball. I had 2 offers total, and ended up starting for a season

Not ALWAYS true. There are many examples of overlooked talent in saturated markets, especially from High School to College. Sad, but true.

Keep in mind that Trevor grew up in a suburb about 30 minutes from LA so he immediately got exposure. If you grow up in a rural area you probably need to go to showcases and big tournaments to get your name out

Absolutely love Trevor’s content. Share it all the time with dozens of kids. This is the one time I disagree wholeheartedly! But as a MLB scouting supervisor for 20 years, who signed wall fulls of big leaguers and was a D1 HC, the exposure, camps, elite events across the board is how players are found today. We miss a ton of players. It’s a big country and if a kid is not tapped into a network of all resources, to get his name out there, he will be missed.

Definitely have to do more than just play high school ball though. Gotta at least play for an elite travel team.

You’ll get scouted as long as you sign up & pay for expensive programs that scouts go to. I promise no real scout is going to a school that has a class size lower than 400 unless they have a maxpreps stat sheet that breaks numbers, even then all they see is the D3 bums you’re facing.

No disrespect because obviously you did something right. But I feel like this isn’t always the case. You’re right you need the skills duh but sometimes I’ve been told you need to find the people. Which prolly has more of an effect when you live in the middle of nowhere
