The back up singers job is to support the lead singer…and yes they do sing the lead singers lines keeping them on key and filling in where the lead singer sometimes can’t hit the notes. Now Mariah hits a certain note no one else can sing. She is one of the best!

She was supposed to lip sync “touch my body” line (she always has.. it’s never been live) and the vocal was shifted a bar too soon.. so instead of giving it up that that’s what she was doing… she threw the blame on the back ground singers so no one would know she was going to lip, and probably fired her engineer after the show.
