Thank god I was in the 8%! People no longer talk to my scalp and look me in the eye, instead.

For me it made a huge difference after I was on finasteride for a year i added topical minoxidil and it filled my temples a lot more and been using it once a day ever since.

Well it worked wonders for me and the damage from years of braids and tension around my front hairline. I had over an inch of a receding hairline and all of it grew back along with enough after a while that needed to be incorporated in braiding. You can also put it on eyebrows. I love love love topical minoxidil!

It’s also extremely toxic to cats, fatal if they come into any contact with it, even a dried flake. I went on a deep dive of this recently it was crazy.

It made a huge difference for me, but I also had no bald spots, just some overall thinning. The doc is right; what causes hair loss in (most) people is the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which increases with age. DHT binds to hair follicles and, over time, causes miniaturization to the point the follicles can no longer penetrate through your scalp.

To treat this, you have to take finasteride (blocks up to 70% serum DHT) or dutasteride (blocks 93-99% serum DHT, essentially nuking it systemically). Be very careful with these drugs; after three years of taking fin with great results and no side effects, I got greedy and switched to dutasteride. Four months later and I developed obvious gynecomastia, because it threw my hormones out of whack. Had surgery to remove it and life is good, but it was a painful lesson.

Now, I just buzz my hair. Suits my head shape/bone structure, and I feel so much more confident.

So you hate topical minoxidil bc it’s not as good as a dht blocker, but that doesn’t make sense since minox was never meant to be a replacement for finasteride or dut. Most people are aware that minoxidil is only an additional step to promote hair growth rather than a replacement for dht blockers.
Oral minxodil can promote hair growth in your entire body rahter than in your hairline only, and that’s not the thing most patients are going for.

The minoxidil treatment itself is not a bad thing that everyone should hate of, its in the people hands as if they want to use both minoxidil and finasteride to treat hair loss. But people should be aware of these two treatments. Minoxidil improves blood circulation so in turn it transforms thin or fuzzy hair into thick and longer and finasteride treats the root cause so that both help.

Dr. Linkov it actually helped me a lot with the combination of 0.5mg of Dutasteride. Consistency is the key. And I don't even think I'm in those 8%. Should give it time definitely.

I used it on my temple area and was happy with the results. That was 2 years ago. Since then there is a slight slowdown in the growth. I just ordered some products from you!

That’s why I stopped using topical minoxidil, because I wasn’t getting results even after more than one year of using it 1-2 times per day on most days.

Wish minoxidil was an option for me, but I tried it (oral pill form) and it caused chest pains. Stopped using it and chest pains went away.

A lot of people are allergic to topical minoxidil. At first, they think it’s the propylene glycol typically found in topical minoxidil. But they switch to a propylene glycol free version and still get the frequent itchiness on their scalp. It usually starts within the first 2 weeks.

I actually regrew a ton of hair at the beginning thanks to topical minoxidil, basically growing back my hairline. Unfortunately, I lost most of it or had further miniturization as the months went by.
Was already on finasteride at that point, and I guess it's not doing much for me. So I might have to switch it up.

Yeah but its well known its just a growth stimulant to be used alongside a 5 alpha reductase inhibiting drug like finasteride. It works really well for a lot of people.

I appreciate your explanation of minoxidil. I found it to be extremely irritating to my scalp and it became very painful. I had to discontinue after a few days. 2nd attempt at using with same outcome. I’m a female with AGA.

So what should be used instead of minoxidil/finastride for male pattern baldness and thinning hair ???

If you combine minoxidil with micro needleing device it literally boosts the effects by 200+%. So it actually works 😮

Minoxidil increases blood flow and thus hair growth. Androgen blocking is needed, however, and that can be done with Finasteride.
