Crazy how something so harsh and dangerous can also be so beautiful and provide life for trillions of organisms

It’s one of the most beautiful things things we have for our planet. Probably THE most.

It’s scary to look at ngl. Just trying to imagine how big it actually is makes me wanna throw up. I can’t even look up at sky scrapers without being sick so trying to imagine how colossally incomprehensibly large the sun is scary

I like how this solar telescope lets you see the sunspots and the coronal loop things that are currently facing Earth. There are even some solar telescopes that let you see the corona.

You can also project a mirrored, safely-viewable image of the sun (albeit with less detail) onto a wall with a homemade pinhole camera for observing sunspots, transit events or eclipses

Forget the artist illustrations on Google, this is the real unedited picture of our sun that has the gravity to hold up all the planets
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres & Asteroid Belt, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Planet 9, Kuiper belt, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, Orcus, Gonggong, Eris, Sedna and much more dwarf planets and way beyond that there is the Oort Cloud which is bigger than all the largest stars in the universe combined and that’s how much the sun can hold.

Don't try this at home! You can only do this twice. With your right and left eye.

Thanks for posting. Even though I've gone to lots of star parties, I've never seen anyone with an H Alpha filter.
