While driving, I don't think a touchscreen IS better than a dial and button.

The Mazda 3 is for drivers, NOT for video game fans. Those screens (tablets) on cars everywhere are the worst thing that could happen in the auto industry.

For anyone wondering, no … the dial control are not clunky at all. It feels so natural on this car

The only 1 real thing here is the lack of manual, the rest are + rather than -

I have used mazda for 3 years and you don’t need a configurable screen in the gauge cluster. What they give is more than enough. I prefer the old style rather than a screen in front of my face!

Seriously, that's one of the worst reviews about mazda 3 without knowing enough about the car, except he's right that there should be a manual version

This guy doesn't get it... whatever. Then go buy a Golf R or a GR corolla...

Ur missing the whole point of this car. It’s not to compete with gr or type r or whatever you mentioned

I see so many mentions of the lack of a touchscreen, but the dial is so much easier to use when you're driving. I actually really like the Mazda infotainment setup.
As for the instrument cluster, that the center is reconfigurable at all is a step up from my old Subaru so that doesn't bother me! What I don't like is the trend on many new cars to just put a rectangular screen across the dash, rather than a sculpted instrument cluster. That looks cheap imo. But a fully reconfigurable digital instrument cluster in a proper housing like on the upper trim CX70 and CX90 would be cool.
What I will say I don't like on current Mazdas is that the clear plastic over the instrument cluster is super soft and scratches even from microfiber cloth. Luckily I was aware of that before I bought my car so I haven't scratched mine to hell yet and I bought some air dusters because even moist lens wipes will scratch it! The second peeve is only having a power drivers seat. I'd spend a little more to get a power front passenger seat, or at least a manual height adjustment. And the achilles heel of the 3 is rear seat legroom. If the car gets a redesign for a 5th generation model I think that it definitely could use a more roomy back seat, and while the torsion beam rear suspension isn't terrible, going back to a multilink independent rear setup would probably be preferable.

The dial is far from clunky and annoying. Once you have it down to muscle memory, its amazing.

Your 1st two points are super unique to you. I much prefer their gauge cluster & non-touch screen. You don't get finger prints all over the screen and it's hella easy to operate while driving vs poking at a screen leaned forward

At least it has a traditional automatic transmission

The first two points are kinda stupid. The third one is very valid, a manual versión of the turbo would be sick.

People who buys Mazda 3 wants Mazda 3. Who cares what other competitors offers.

I drive a 2023 silverado with a touch screen, also a mazda 3 with the infotainment wheel and buttons and i absolutely hate using the touchscreen. The wheel is by far the safest option for guiding through the settings. No greasy fingers either.
The gauge cluster is fine. Once you set it you forget it.

The dial is nice! It's placed in the right spot and I've never thought about that it's not touchscreen

The last part with the manual, I totally agree
