Amid the ongoing outrage over the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government and questioned the ruling TMC for attempting to save the accused instead of providing justice to the victim.

The Congress leader further extended his support to the victim’s family and raised concerns regarding the safety of women in the country. The Opposition leader further demanded justice for the 31-year-old doctor’s family and said that the culprits should be given such a punishment that it is presented as an example in society.

Let me tell you something. UP people may be like anything but the justice system there is just extraordinarily nice. I am from up and there was a girl who was raped in few villages afar from mine. There was enough proof with police and when the boy started to run, he was shot to death or His leg, I don’t remember.
