When I had my ears tested (in the UK), I asked whether it was a function of my brain not my ears. The person testing me told me my brain was ok. On another note, I wish those making TV and Films stopped overloading us with a barrage of sound effects and mood music during mumbled dialogue.

I constantly get accused of having bad hearing by my partner bc I usually have 2+ loud closer foreground noises going on simultaneously with him talking to me through a door & in another room in the way far away background & he's like you need to get your ears checked if you can't understand what I'm saying. & I listen to everything & everyone very easily & can hear low volumes & soft voices just fine. In fact loud noises bother me bc my hearing is so sensitive. This significant interference scenario is literally the only circumstance where I have trouble hearing clearly. I have to physically turn off whatever noises are going on next to me & then go into the room they're in & ask them what was it they were trying to tell me. Anybody else?

I have a microphone and I love it. I have used in mostly in restaurants that are noisy. I can hear my husband easily. Now, weddings and parties are another thing…

Wonderful content, we as an group are evaluating the cognivue and it seems like it may be a bit more accurate and significantly faster ( 5 minutes vs 20 ) than the standard evaluation that we utilize now. Cost is certainly a factor holding back the adoption as we have other pressing needs such as repairs and rebuilds to clinics in Texas after that storm and of course recovery after 2020.

Thanks for pushing out the information on the relationship between hearing heath and cognitive health, it is absolutely vital information and sadly, under advertised.

Inability to hear in background noise is also a symptom of Central Auditory Processing Disorder that is age related. It seems that the new Whisper hearing system addresses this using artificial intelligence and deep learning. Will you be reviewing this?

can you have both noise induced hearing loss and ADP ..it seems that I have both ....or could my ADP be mistaken for my hearing loss ....the diagnoses dont make sense. NIHL is obviously sound induced and ADP is the way the brain processes sound ..but dont both have to do with the brain ?

well how to you describe this situation ..I have the hearing issue where my hearing things from another room doesnt go so well but when I come into the specific room I can hear it ..I have slight hearing loss in the higher frequencies but it didnt dip enough for audiologists to recomend hearing aids, and my WR was at 100%, and I was also diagnosed with Audiotory Processing Disorder....how do I even begin to treat this ? I have tinitus and slight hearing loss that was sound induced but my APD is in the way my brain hears things, so what causes my hearing loss then ...I have both issues that baffle me ...

I think the main problem is that the pick-up microphones face backwards and cannot be aimed directly at the person speaking. I would be interested in a comparison between the behind ear set-up and those small hearing aids that fit directly into the ear canal. At least the simple act of turning ones head slightly one way should focus better on the person speaking.

very interesting info. i wonder if this is whats going on with me. i not only have hearing loss but i also have to deal with vision loss from diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. so my brain struggles to function on a daily basis. im going to talk my dr about gettng this kind of test performed.

Dr Cliff, please talk about issues related to *'Resound 3D app'* . After latest firmware, we are not able to evn pair *linx quattro HA* with the app. It is really disgusting. Out voice is not being heard. Yours will be.
