I always say to guys starting out: if you line up all the men who've deadlifted 700lbs in the last year and ask them 'how many years have you been training?' the numbers you'll hear are 10, 15, 20 years. Sometimes 8. Sometimes 25. Never 3 years. If you're no longer a newbie and you can add 5 lbs to each powerlift once a month for a year, you're making great progress. Be consistent and avoid injury. It's going to take a long time, so learn to love it.

i’ve worked my eyebrow muscles for 3-6 months, but haven’t experienced such progress like yours 😔

Great speaker. Perhaps the best in the fitness space.

43 years old. 2 years in to training. 2 training sessions (sometimes 3) *every* week unless I'm on holiday. I still don't look in the mirror because I don't care, but I "feel" what it's done for me. I call it "training for life". I'll do this the rest of my life, and my only goal is to make sure that life is as long and healthy as possible.

Everyone is different.Every body is different. But a leaner body will visually see results much sooner. At least in my experience.

Dr. Mike almost switched to his common chaotic mode once he said about the mirror, but managed to hold on to his pedantry. That's some huge load for the doctor!

And when you’ve worked out for a week and haven’t seen a 20lb increase in lean mass, then I recommend hoping on tren. This advice is for people under 25

I really love that you did an episode with Dr. Lyons. I have her book and really enjoyed reading it. However, I just need to be consistent with my practice. Thank you for the videos from this episode.

I've been calling this "making space." It's when you lean into and love a process and in doing the habits and setting aside the time, you're making space for the growth that will come, even if it's unpredictable.

When I switched to focusing on starting with super easy efforts that we grow over time, and emphasized committing to the habits, my clients have seen awesome progress over 6-12 months. And that's the goal, isn't it? I've never seen someone have a radical 2-3 months who sustained it.

Is this part of a longer interview? I'd love to watch / listen to the whole thing.

I think this tracks pretty well. I have noticed taking progression photos each month that month to month I don't see much difference. But a jump of two or three months and the difference is obvious in photos.

Started lifting regularly at 45 after divorce and someone explained some basics I was missing. I lost my skinny fat, and a lot of problems, nervous system better but 6+ years later I'm the same weight. I really worked legs hard for 3+ years with no building. I really think my genetics have a very hard ceiling but it's made life much better. I have a very thin bone structure. Big lesson for me was, I was overtraining.

He's right. Fortunately I'm a quick responder. I saw significant difference in 2 months.

Fastest way to gain muscle seems to be getting cast in a big budget action movie. Those guys put on 20 pounds of muscle in six weeks, all on just chicken and brown rice 😉
