Martin Luther King Jr said it best when he said:

“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

And the 1619 project is a step, among many, in the wrong direction. Making any person, whether they be white, black, brown, or any other color, feel guilty for a birth trait they had no control over is not giving them the proper respect they deserve. A person, as MLKJ pointed out, should be Judged by the person they are as an individual, not a whole, as a group or collective.

The 1619 project also fails to recognize how slavery was practiced in Africa at the time. Apparently in some places it still is.
