I realize that this video about leaving the Mennonites may only create more questions and that’s ok. We will share more as God leads us to share.
There are many different Mennonite churches and many of them believe in being born again and teach about having a personal relationship. This video is only our personal story, not meant to shame or hurt any Mennonite churches.

Hi dearest Ruth anne! I know you said you weren’t as comfortable doing a different format youtube, but I found it absolutely delightful. It was like having an afternoon visit with you. Your “life change” happened around the same time as my life change happened. I too had been happily raising my family of 3 kids when my husband’s job in the computer industry evaporated. The following day, our middle child was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He languished in a coma for a couple months and we were advised to put him in a nursing home and get on with our lives and continue raising our other children. I refused that advice and insisted that my son would come home with me. The group of doctors were shocked that a young mother would so insistently defy them, the stood slack jawed staring at my audacious refusal when obviously I hadn’t given his future any thought. One of the docs said, “you have to consider his long term care.” I told him I AM HIS LONG TERM CARE.” Dr’s just automatically assumed because my Jonathan had suddenly gone from a typical 9 year old to a comatose 100lb new born on a feeding tube that I would say, “I give up, it’s too hard.” But they didn’t know me.
I explained I was Jon’s long term care, and that He would be returning home with me.
We did bring him home, and with constant brain stimulation and familiar surroundings within a couple months we had him laughing, then talking, then walking, then dressing and feeding himself again.
Today he is married, working and raising his own family with on one little here, and one on the way. Jesus has most certainly been faithful to all of us and will always be. Thanks for sharing your story with us. You are loved and appreciated!!!

I absolutely LOVE your honesty. You are frank without being offensive with a gentle soul. Not to be confused with someone who doesn’t have strength. I love your channel and you’re teaching moments. How I wish I had properly and a family to share it with. As a widowed senior it seems it won’t happen, so I live vicariously through you. Thank you and bless you

I understand your story. Only I was a Mormon. I always had questions but they were never answered. Finally my eyes were opened one Sunday at church. And then I read a book on the two men who founded the church! What a shock and I was repulsed! I left and found God in another church where I found peace. I miss all the things I learned about being a good wife, mom, homemaker and the things we did to make our lives better. But it has been worth it! Your story was wonderful about finding the spirit of God! God bless you and your family!

Loved your family story. I was raised Roman Catholic and in the last three years I have questioned all the man made rules vs what is in the Bible. My husband still attends but I choose to not participate. Your story reaffirms my personal decision to live according to the Bible vs man made rules. Change is very difficult for my husband so I understand his decision. Love watching your family and homestead as we raised our daughters on a dairy farm. Now we are retired and friends do not understand my canning/freezing of our large garden when there is only two of us. But I can freely share our bounty with others. We enjoy our laying hens and raise our meat chickens which we process ourselves. (SE Wisconsin). God is Good!

I agree completely with inviting the parents of adoptive kids to events as long as there are no problems. Kids always want to know where they come from. One day they will make their own decision to include them in their life or not. Honesty and kindness is always the best policy.

“My personal savior “. For some reason your statement intrigues me. I’m not sure why yet. Maybe I consider myself so flawed that I don’t deserve such a one on one relationship. Fear of such an intimate relationship with Jesus or something. Anyway, your comment helped me think and will continue to ponder this. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your testimony! I was adopted as a baby, into a Baptist family who loved our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. God’s timing and plan is perfect. It was later in life when I discovered that my birth mother and my heritage is Mennonite. It was during my search about Mennonites that I discovered your YouTube channel. I appreciate your content very much and enjoy the videos you produce. I’m happy to be part of your online community and thrilled to know we are both part of the family of God. Blessings to you and your family.

Love your story ❤while we’re still Mennonite we also left the stricter way we were raised, we also still miss the knowing everyone from childhood and now need to learn to know strangers and their ways..but in Christ we’re never truly strangers 🥰 and following Christs leading brings so many blessings

Thank you for respecting your children’s privacy. Something rarely seen on you tube and other mediums by their parents. ❤

I'm an ole worn out farm boy, raised on the Palouse, I'm 84. I live Your videos and wisdom.
I was a missionary in Haiti for a number of years, working with farmers. We found that if we staked the YAM vines, allowing them to aerate and not wonder over the ground, they got a better yield.

Praise God! I have an Amish friend I've known more than 30 years. It looks like he will be leaving his home and church and come to live with our family. I can't know how he feels but you might know. He will lose the children and grandchildren. I live upstairs from my daughter, and it is such a blessing. I was adopted and my mom and the biological mother wrote back and forth. I met her when I saw almost 30 and had my baby girl. It really made me appreciate the mom and dad I grew up with because they were Christians and she and her family were not. Thank You Jesus.

I left the Mormon church years ago..you perfectly described how it feels to leave a high demand religion where members are essentially “other” than those around them. Leaving something like that creates a deep loneliness that I don’t wish on anyone. Happy to hear your family’s success story!

You are one of the first homesteading families I followed after I moved to my own homestead last September 2023. I rave about you to my husband. I respect you and honor your path immensely. I came out of a high demand religion myself. I wish I had the home economic background you have, but that is why I watch you. Your skills are an invaluable aid to others right now! I have done several things you've recommended. I am so glad to know more about your unique story. GOD IS GOOD!
