The initial setup of a point to point bridge and then a detailed look at what the admin pages look like on the tp-link Pharos CPE710.

See my other videos about the CPE710 / CPE605..

00:00 - Intro
00:15 - Setting a static IP on your computer so you can reach the CPE710 for configuration.
01:02 - Initial log in to the router and setting the country and a non-default password.
01:39 - Running through Quick Setup for Access Point device.
04:07 - Running through Quick Setup for the Client device.
04:51 - Testing connectivity over the point to point wireless bridge.
06:02 - Speed test across the wireless bridge (benchmarking).
08:31 - The status screen when in Client mode including Throughput, Stations, Interfaces, ARP Table, Routes and DHCP Clients.
09:02 - Network tab for setting IP Address, DHCP Mode, Gateway, DNS, MTU, IPv6, VLAN and "MAC & IP Binding".
09:52 - Wireless tab for setting Region, WiFi mode, channel width, TX rate, frequency, transmit power limits.
10:33 - Wireless tab for setting SSID, WDS mode, WPA / Security mode and password/passkey.
13:15 - Wireless tab when in Client Mode (see below for AP mode!) for Advanced Wireless Settings. Distance Setting, Beacon Interval, RTS Threshold, Fragmentation Threshold, DTIM Interval, AP Isolation, Short GI, Wi-Fi Multimedia WMM, QoS.
13:28 - Management tab for System Logs, Discovery settings, Ping Watchdog, Dynamic DNS, Web Server, SNMP Agent and SSH Server settings.
15:09 - System tab for Device name, location, language, admin user/pass and time + timezone settings.
15:52 - On device ping diagnostics.
16:07 - On device speed test (iperf), this function appears to have a hard limit likely due to device CPU limitations.
19:27 - Spectrum Analysis mode.
21:27 - Antenna Alignment.
22:34 - The status screen when in Access Point mode including Throughput, Stations, Interfaces, ARP Table, Routes and DHCP Clients.
24:38 - Wireless tab when in Access Pojnt mode (see above for client mode!) including Multi-SSID and MAC Filtering options.

Glad I found your video, thanks for making it. Your comments about the speed test were helpful re upper 600mbps being about the max it will achieve. I'm getting that, so good to know. And you answered another question which was why the speedtest tool shows only high 300s is likely due to low cpu power!
Couple of notes for you; antenna set to Feed Only 7dbi is for local AP use (without the dish attached) whereas the 23dbi setting is for full strength long distance bridge point to point. Advanced settings; SG interval is Short Guard interval which Enabled can help reduce affects of radio interference and reflection from enclosed spaces, walls, glass, etc by setting a short time delay to ignore transmission "echoes". If you're operating in open space where reflections or neighbouring interference is unlikely then it may offer an improvement to disable SGI. Finally, always have WiFi Multimedia (WMM) enabled to ensure full 866.7mbps can be achieved, otherwise you'll revert to 802.11g with max of 54mbps! I thought it unnecessary then forgot about it and spent ages scratching my head why everything had gone super slow, lol.

Hello, I have a CPE710 and I used it as an AP Router. Is it capable of the "Whitelisting"? I have neighbours who connected even though I have hidden my SSID. I don't know how they do it.

Hi all, for this cpe710 in access point mode, how many clients can be connected to it (other cpe for example cpe510)? Thanks

Hi, thank you for your demonstration, I have a cpe605 device in access point mode, but I can see the ssid in some devices and some are not showing the ssid what the exact issue is??

Hi. Will I have the possibility with this antenna to catch free WiFi which is situated about 100-200m from me? Will it catch so far signal or it works only between 2 same antennas?

I have trouble with the negotiated rate being only about 86mbs it has been as high as 650mbps when set it up about 9 months ago, the web speed is over 600 from the router at the access point side. I note on the stations tab the IP address is blank, the signal noise(dbm) says -62/-57, -95/-95 I don't know if that's good or bad. Any idea why the ip address is blank there but mac address of client is listed? SNR for client shows 28-35ish, CCQ 100 it is a sandstorm type day and about 50 degrees C if that makes a difference but connection is only about 300m away between skyscrapers in busy area
