Thank you very much for this video! I actually could not find how in the hell to start the JACK UI! I saw writeups on how to use it once opened, but finding out how to install and run it was harder to find. Thanks again! This is still helpful in 2022.

Hey just a couple of things related to this and your previous video. The steps were a little out of order and I wanted to just set things straight because my experience was a bit different and for a beginner even the simplest step left out can cause a lot of confusion. It took me absolutely forever to get this to work right but here is my two cents. Not criticism, just presenting a different scenario.

Last video:
1. After adding user to audio group, one has to log out and log back in, otherwise qjackctl wont detect everything including Pulseaudio.
2. There is a step where you ask to edit the file /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf, for me that file didnt exist until after I installed qjackctl.
3. Lastly the pulse audio thing is a little confusing if you dont know what you're doing. When watching this video I started the jack server and immediately lose all audio, especially youtube audio. Once you start the jack server it will route pulseaudio to jack, right click on the volume icon and open up the mixer. In you default output device select jack. By default it should say Built-in System..something. Then you can hear both the audio from say Hydrogen, and Youtube while jack is still running.

But other than that. thanks for this, its awesome, can you at some point do a tutorial on how to use the patchbay to make connections between the different softwares like hydrogen or guitarix and ardour for proper recording.
Thanks

Whenever I click start in the QjackCtl, I get:
20:28:36.853 D-BUS: JACK-Server could not be started. Sorry
Cannot connect to server socket err = File or path not found
Cannot connect to server request channel

I have followed your previous tutorial and I've tried everything I found, including deactivating PulseAudio completely.

For me the connections dialog only shows system input and output ports and also no audio works anymore on the computer after starting the server.

Does anyone know how to setup this to record calls over PC?
Where does it store recorded files?

Hi J! idk if you still answer questions about a 4 y/o video, but when I try to start it, it just gives me an error, "Could not connect to the Jack server as client", any clue why?

Could you make any recommendations on how to solve the issue of getting the error message "could not connect to jack server" when I open jack/press start?

Hi! I want to process all Linux sound (or at least my music player's output) with a VST equalizer so that only the VST-processed sound is audible. What is the simplest way to achieve this?

Which Video Editor did you use for this video? This video is very informative and well made. It's nice that you explain everything, even if we don't necessarily need it. And also are you german? If so: Da bin ich aber überglücklich.

These videos are really helpful for me since I am new to linux, and im predictably into audio/video production. I am using ubuntu budgie 17.10 and when I look in the super easy built in software center Qjackctl isn't available. How would I install that in the kernel? Just a sudo command?

Edit: I think I figured it out... Hold on. *#2* Yeah I got it. I learned a lot in the process. Thanks.
