I wonder if you soaked the acrylic yarn, it would stick better to the blank. Or... if you used a bulky acrylic yarn (also wet)...

Love watching your videos. Maybe using pebbles would give lovely spots of resistance x

Absolutely gorgeous yarn. I'm a new subscriber. I'm totally obsessed. I have Binge watched like 10 episodes! I have learned so much!

It would be really cool to reverse the rainbow on the opposite side of the blank so the purple on the back side of the red etc, so you'd end up with another rainbow in the speckles.

Totally gorgeous color gradient Rebecca!!! Looks like a speckled lollipop!! Maybe if you used a thicker yarn (like worsted weight) as the resist it would stay put...or pin the strands down to a large piece of foam..if you know what I mean.(Put the blank on a long piece of foam and stick T-pins into the strands of the resist yarn to hold it in place) Happy New Year 🎊 to you and your family!!!
Awesome video Rebecca!!!

Happy dying from Canada 🇨🇦

What if you used a heavier yarn for the resist? Bulky weight, or even thin macrame cord or cotton clothes line. Or how about a thin I-cord? Then you'd have both the I-cord and the sock blanks!

You should trying dyeing the back of the other blank with navy or black.

It would be really fun to spray the back with opposite colors or even black!

I also wondered if you could use weights of some kind to do this, such as washers. There are also weights that I've seen sewists use to hold down the pattern and fabric when they cut it, but I'm not sure what they are called. Lovely yarn!

Bramble Berry has a mica sprayer (for glitter) that might work. I wonder if you had wet and or stiffened the acrylic if the design would have held.

I think if you used craft wire it wouldn't blow away with the spray. And you could hold shapes & designs better. Hope this is something you play with again, it was fascinating!

What about using inexpensive metal chain from a hardware shop. Can get different thickness and lengths cut to size. 🙂

So I have a fine mist spray bottle that I used in the salon that puts out a lot of liquid with a little air. I bet this would work really well for this technique! I've also wanted to try speckling. Do you have a p.o. box? I'd love to send you a few to experiment with! You could put whatever dyes you want in them too.

You could try putting a spry adhesive (temporary of course) or wet yarn on the yarn on top.

In order to better preserve the whites I'd try partially drying the blank so that it spreads less willingly, and maybe even trying to use something thicker such as ribbon instead of yarn to form the resist. Or even a really chunky yarn?

hey! love watching your videos :-) perhaps using some sort of thin tape (paper/masking/cello) as a resist will work better for these sprays? then taking them off before microwaving them

Lovely video!!!! Do you think that the resist yarn would have stayed better if it was wet? I will be trying this technique in the coming weeks. Many, many Blessings....Beverly

IDK, if this would work but, mini skein dyed but not set and layed on top of unset sock blank .

As others have said, you probably need something heavier for a resist. Maybe chain? Rope?
