There's a sad and almost poetic sort of irony in that their desperation to prevent aging is what's making them look so aged.

I hate the lip filler trend.. all the girls that don't fall for the peer pressure will be rewarded.

Always been a firm believer in natural beauty and overcoming my body insecurities rather than using drastic life altering procedures. I think that only worsens the insecurities one feels about themselves.
So far taking care of my body has helped my skin immensely and keeping up with a good skin care routine. I always tell myself to not overdo it.
I'm 25 now, and I still look like I'm in my late teens to all of my peers.

As a guy that runs a YouTube channel for men's skincare, I obviously spend a lot of time looking at other content creator's online, and in skincare it's predominantly females. I totally agree that Gen Z is looking older than they should. I am truly worried about the skincare companies and 'influencers' that are pushing products onto youngsters (primarily young girls). Teenagers should not be using Retinol! I would love there to be a scientific study into the appearance of aging between the two groups. Social media has made youngsters feel they have to use products to look 'perfect' in this imperfect world.

The guy you featured from TikTok is a perfect male example (I follow him and enjoy his content). I do look a bit older than him, but not by much. I'm 58yrs old. I guess my worry now is that Gen Z pick up on this older look and then double-down on having more treatment and expensive skincare to 'fix' the problem. Thanks for highlighting this issue Brett.

As a Millennial I can say the lack of mobile phones, social media, the ease of playing outside, making friends for life, watching Sunday cartoons, makeup was unheard of, studying in schools that didn't have weird agendas, zero participation trophies gave us the happiness, values & strength to face this World which shows in our faces. We just had a happier childhood. I am 32 and I easily pass for 26-27.

When you get a bunch of cosmetic procedures done to augment your appearance, you don’t look young, you look like an older person trying to look young. It’s an uncanny valley effect, regardless of age. 60 or 25, if you see someone who clearly has had a lot of work done or 10 pounds of makeup on, you think “oh, that person’s trying to look young” and that makes them look older than they really are.

This is so true. I am 39 and I have never gotten any work done. I think this has helped me with the aging process. My co-worker was telling me about this book. She said it was published way before I was born…in 2002…that was the year I graduated high school…and another co-worker was joking saying I should respect my elders. He was referring to himself as the my elder. I told him…”I am older than you! Way older so you should respect me.” He was shocked that I was about 10 years older than him. I think I look like 32-35. But that is because I have seen my face matured through the years. But many people still perceive me to be way younger.

9/11 is pure Milennial, not Gen Z. You were too young to understand the chaos and impact that caused in society. Us Milennials were older kids and teens when it happened

Less or no makeup has always looked better to me on everyone. I agree being online everyday and seeing more issues going on in the world than ever before can definitely cause more stress. Its so unneccessary too. We had the same problems in the world it just wasn't in the palm of your hand like it is now. Turn off the phone for hours in the day or a whole day(s) and do hands on projects and stuff and watch your stress get beter.

Back when Botox became available they said we should start before wrinkles start. I refused, probably due to cost at the time, but I now feel that botox and filler messes the skin elasticity and natural collagen to keep skin plump while young. Essentially removing natural antiaging properties, and causing early aging signs. The muscles in the face and the skin cant support itself without the chemicals, and overtime it does not listen to the chemicals.

To be fair, as a millennial, I have lived through everything you mentioned and people think I am not over 30.

Gen Z barely knows what 9/11 is, that is definitely not the cause of their stress.

Really good show! I’m a boomer and I’ve noticed the difference between how gen Z is aging and how we did, it’s sad.

I'd say keep your natural look.
1. It usually looks better.
2. It saves you money.
3. You'll look like your kids.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

Gen Z absolutely cannot claim 9/11. You had no concept of what was happening.

Girl, this is so true! I'm 28 gonna be 29 in May and have been mistaken for a high school senior, when I was in high school a teacher thought that I was a freshman, while I was waiting for my bus an elderly man told me that I didn't look old enough to be in college (I've been in college for the past 9 years and will be graduation in June). I don't wear makeup, keep my diet fairly clean, and workout 4-5 times a week.
Also, you're beautiful Brett. I'm not bullshitting and there's no fakery. Keep up the great content. You're a real one, girl!

At age 23, I was already married for about a year while going to college. People thought I was still 15. Now I have people thinking I’m age 25 but I’m 32. Not sure what’s going on but all the things you listed for gen z could be ruining the whole generation. It’s social media that’s slowly killing them. Thank god I grow up as a Y2K kid where I didn’t have a phone or tablet stuck to me.
