BMW E30 318iS - Whats It Really Like to Drive??

Part two of our Random Candid Car Review, where I drive the E30 back to back with the current G20 3-Series.

Of course there were absolutely zero similarities! Still great to see just how far the 3-Series has come since the early 90s!

Great video! I as you know love old cars. It’s not about the speed but more about how they feel and how they make you feel whilst driving one. You hit the nail on the head, you don’t have to be going over a hundred to have a good time and you get a better sense of speed in an older non dulled down car.

I drove one of these 318is models in the mid '90s when they were "used cars." Still it took until the late '00s before I would buy one. I sold it after ten years 150K miles in favor of a 135i. But three years ago a friend had a "Project Car" to sell and suddenly I was back in the game as a 318is owner. It took some time and effort to make it right - but was worth the effort. Fortunately kept the 135i.

I've got an 87 E reg 325i which has the panel on the roof and the same trip computer as that one.

only 320 and 325 came with chech panel. what you are showing is the obc, on board computer

Try the steering wheel from JR Hartleys W123 Merc, it would give a Midland Bluebird bus a run for its money....😅

Currently finishing up repairs on mine after hitting a deer. The E30 M3 S14 was based off of the S38(M88) 6-cylinder head with two removed and an M10 bottom-end which was around for decades. The 14 actually refers to the days taken to create it as it was so fast using all that previous architecture.

Also that exhaust is pretty garbage. The supersprint is the only real solution.

The only thing a 318is needs is a visit to BDS Motorsport. They really amazing on theese engines 😊
