Regardless of the stories behind the trains. They do have to retire them at some point. I know NYC trains were being dumped way out in the ocean. Something environmental.

These train cars were from the Chicago railroad metra, in the 90s, the green train was involved in a accident on a railroad crossing where a lady was in a rush and crossed the tracks when the train was flying down the tracks at 60mph when it struck her and flew her to the side of the tracks, killing her instantly.

The MARC or Maryland area rail commuter locomotive which is for some reason in illinois hit a woman in 1991 going 60 MPH, dont belive me? Just search up the 1991 metra downers grove train incident, BUT that is not the reason it is abandoned, i do not think there is a reason that it was abandoned though but maybe because they were getting too old
