In Europe we have always used these natural methods for everyday sickness. Like vinegar socks to bring down a high fever in a child. Always works.

My grandma did share another really cool onion ' trick' . When you get stung by a wasp, bee or similar insect Cut an onion into big slices, at least 1 cm thick and put it directly on the very painful sting . It will work right away, the pain will almost instantly be gone . If you have an onion handy for emergencies like this, and you can get the onion on the sting within 1-5 minutes max, then the venom won't be able to cause an anaphylactic shock because the onion pulls it out . I would recommend taking it on hikes and picnics.
Instead of a gauze wrap to fix it on location ...
I use an old clean cotton tube sock .
An onion, a little knife and that sock ( cut off the foot portion to adapt it to non foot locations ) replaced the bee sting kit I used to carry . I would recommend practicing it so that in a panic stricken, pain filled moment you know the drill and can go on autopilot .

I haven't heard of this one but once my mother heard of a natural remedy of putting a slice of raw potato on top of a splinter of wood on my big toe. The splinter was out in less than 12 hours, probably more like 6.
