7:03 I believe that it has something to do with magnet. I know for a fact that when you direct two magnets to eachother from the same pole (for example the north pole), then they will not connect but repel from each other (north pole can't connect with north pole, the same goes with the south poles), so I believe that that rod repels that magnet spiral sphere thing into the air.
