This one was all about disorientation, but vibrating a bit is for sure less effective than training in a centrifuge or the three-axis trainer, right!? Where they'd be spinning like mad really messing up their inner ear balance system? I guess disorientation is disorientation! From a 1962 USAF Bioastronautics study.

You are incorrect. This is a training exercise for pilots in case they are blinded by two fried eggs.

If you get your pilot's license, one of the things they teach you is not to believe your sense of direction when you can't see. Your inner ear will lie to you, so always trust your instruments. The artificial horizon is your friend.

The instructor makes you wear a visor so you can't see out the windows and you have to recover to straight and level from random wonky attitudes using the instruments alone. And yes, the engine in a Cessna 150 has a bit of vibration to boot.

Im just amazed at all these pieces of testing equipment had to be designed and built along with all the millions of pieces of other support equipment, along with all the testing facilities. Then they had to build all of the infrastructure to build a rocket and assemble, and launch it. Then they had to build all the control facility infrastructure. Nothing was “off the shelf” everything was made from scratch. Truly the most amazing project in human history!
