"Sleep is the best meditation" - Dalai Lama
While we sleep, our body is hard at work, taking action to recover and repair. With that in mind, I designed this short pre-sleep sequence with the incorporation of poses that are known in the yoga world to have calming and detoxifying effects. Preparing our body for rest, and the work it will do while we are sound asleep, I would recommend this class be done right before bed, possibly even from your bed.
As you set up for the session, I’d recommend bringing along either a firm pillow, a bolster, or a yoga block, while looking to add some softness to the back side, if not already in your bed. In my set up, I have placed a blanket beneath my upper body.
Lastly, if you know your hamstrings are quite tight, consider positioning yourself next to a wall or headboard, for support when we visit our waterfall pose.
When you are ready to begin, I will meet you on your backside, in supported bridge pose: knees bent pointing up, soles of feet connected with the ground, shoulders and head resting on the earth, hips lifted but supported by a bolster, block or pillow.
When you are ready, roll out your mat, and we will get started!
Have a beautiful class, and a great sleep ;) ♡
