Alan Wake II is a survival horror game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games Publishing. A sequel to Alan Wake, the story follows best-selling thriller novelist Alan Wake, who has been trapped in an alternate dimension for 13 years, as he attempts to escape by writing a story involving an FBI agent named Saga Anderson. Players play as Alan Wake or Saga Anderson in two separate single-player stories, which can be played in any order the player chooses

I bought Alan wake back in 2011 without knowing a clue what it was so wasn’t disappointed by the whole development cycle that people were looking forward to. Absolutely loved this game so much it became an obsession. Picked it back up two years ago and got really into poets of the fall and had some amazing drives across the country with their music on my car stereo. Loved the game so much wish I could buy everyone who worked on this a drink. Also the musical choices on the first game were so well done whoever did the music was amazing.

RIP to Brett Madden who potrayed Alice Wake in the first game. She passed away in 2020.

Christina Cole did a phenomenal job as Alice Wake in this sequel.

I have a voice acting background and Matthew Porretta's voice fits so well in this game. If you guys have a minute, listen to the 'Departure' manuscripts from the first game. Speaking of Porretta, he's been recently hurt pretty bad in a bar fight, let's send him some positive vibes.

First: Personal shoutout to you. Second: A personal note. Third: The game.

1: Thank you SO much for your thorough playthrough! The game was SO detailed and filled with riches and you took yout time (without dwadling) to explore and find all the pieces laid out from the devs! <3

2: I was following the playthrough over the last few days as I was going thruogh a mental down, somewhat of a depression. I was struggling from not getting positive results from the work I was doing so very hard since weeks and months really, and a few days ago it just felt like all the strength had just left me. I ha no creativity for my work anymore, no drive to do anything, I couldn't even really think straight. I was in a deep dark hole. But "hole" doesn't really give that justice. You know what description fits better? I was in a Dark Place. THE Dark Place of my own mind. And it wasn't a hole I was in. Depression isn't a hole. It's a Spiral. I had not made the connection/similarity between my own situation/current minset and what was going on in the game until ONE specific moment, and that was when Saga was stuck in her own Mind Place. How it bombarded her with negativity, with failings, doubts and fears and regrets she had. But Saga kept fighting against the dark thoughts, tried to hold on to the good things, to the TRUE things. I literally had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat watching that whole segment as she found all the little signs in the room of the good things about herself and how she found her strength and confidence again. And I choked up when she realised that this is HER Mind Place and only SHE can get herself out of it. That she'll continue to make mistakes but she will keep trying and she will do better. In THAT very moment, and I kid you not, it was like someone had flicked a lightswitch on: My own depressive mood and thoughts were GONE. Literally gone. I saw myself as Saga, and got back up on my feet. Long story short: This "click" for me happened because of your playthrough and because the devs have made such a layered and very thought-through game. More on that in 3.

3. I've personally studied Games & Animation and it has become a rarity that a game shows TRUE creativity, gives players new experiences, and you see where the devs put in an immense amount of detail and dedication to not only the length of a story, but also the quality, the continuity, the pacing and the tonality. I felt like having seen both a game and a movie, watching your playthrough, and it was a combined masterpiece. Mind you, I REALLY don't say that lightly, because there's 99% trash games coming out each year. This thought, takes a "game" to a complete new level. Every single line spoken by the characters had meaning. Everything was part of the story, important FOR the story, in every way you want to look at it. It hit me in the segment where Alan walks through that rock musical, that this is ACTUALLY a piece of ART. This is TRUE ART. You just don't SEE stuff like this nowerdays, where devs take a risk, take a leap of faith with something crazy, with something that simply FITS to the crazy world they put their story in, walking the thin line between the brutal, insane world the player finds himself in and the possibility to have it seem trivial or even just comical. But no. That segment had such a deep-rooted meaning and it was so well done, just like all the rest of the story. Again, long story short: The game is a piece of art in and of itself. I personally am too much of a chicken to play horror games, so having been able to follow you has been an absolute delight. This game is incredible, I am hyped there will be another part -possibly to wrap the story and hopefully save our dear Alan- and I hope that this game gets all the awards and the dedicated workers of the game get praise for years on end. They deserve it. <3

Pretty hard to bear with all these "why do you go that way now you were there, man " moments.. but the song at the 5 h mark is pretty lit.

Personally I liked Alan Wake 1 more for the sheer fact it was more straight forward and streamlined.

Alan Wake 2 is a visual treat, but it’s a very confusing slog in a lot of sections. It also really doesn’t have a story you can follow easily. It’s pretty much 16 hours of characters talking nonsense that you have to deep dive into explanation videos to understand.

Holy shit dude, I tried to love this game but getting lost in those dark confusing subway tunnels frustrated me so much that I want to quit the game. I'm trying to look up guides but every tunnel area looks the same so I don't even know where I am for the sake of finding myself in a guide. Between going through the writing room and changing the area with lights I have no fucking clue where to go or what to do and I'm just super frustrated trying to play this game. SUPER confusing. I see the yellow arrows but they keep pointing to dead ends. Jesus Christ.
