When i worked with cs4 the format h264 for render was very fast but now in encoder 2020 it takes a long time to render, anyway to render H.264 only with after effects 2020 without encoder?

I’m making my first edits and when I export them (avi format) they weigh 1GB!!!! I really don’t know why, it’s an 8 seconds long edit, pretty short. And that is stopping me from transfering it to my phone or converting it to another format. Also, when I use Quicktime, everytime it’s done rendering i go check out the edit, and it only has the audio, not the clips. HELP

I compiled an edit in After Effects and I put it in the Encoder and try to render it, but it takes two seconds and what pops up on my desktop is a video with a duration of 0:00 and it's just a black screen. I have tried to render two different ways and this is what has happened. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

when i use media encoder queue on an edit with a light colored background, it changes the background to black once it’s fully rendered and i don’t know how to fix it :(

I use the render queue but it got stuck and its frustrating cus i spent 30 mins trying to figure out how to exit or force quit but i also dont want to lose the transitions i made. Like someone help me plz.

Had the same problem with exporting to quick time. “this file contains some media which isn’t compatible with QuickTime player” I did export also as the apple 444 with rgb and alpha and that worked. But I'm still curious as to why the QuickTime/animation setting didn't work. Thanks in advance. G.
