I know this may sound like a stupid conspiracy but all these modern cars(E.g mine a MG) are included a whole set of “traffic light recognition” and “automatic brakes”. With experience the automatic brake stop is really stupid and can detect cars on the two or double lane road, and when it does brake, it feels like your going to hell.

Brake checking is bad, but there’s not a big gap in front of the Audi, so why does truck drive so close?

If you rear-end a car.. it's automatically your fault. You should be far enough behind that car. That if the driver tries a move like this. You're far enough behind him to stop or move out the way before you hit him. I don't even come close to tailgating. I am always at minimum 5 - 10 car lengths behind the car in front of me.

Could have been automatic emergency braking. There is a pillar ahead and modern cars sometimes go crazy like that

While I approve, fault is still sadly on the trucker. Should always leave enough space to stop. I will never be brake checked by a vehicle already in my lane.

you have to keep a safe distance no matter what especially as a truck driver because of the longer breaking distance. If someone is "break checking" repeatedly or over longer distance its coercion which is punishable. You never know if the driver in front is in an emergency situation. Same when theres snow, ice and/or fog. You cant just keep on driving full speed without proper distance but have to adjust it to the circumstances.
