Sony Xperia Z1 Review Part 2

Aaron reviews the Sony Xperia Z1, Sony's new flagship Android smartphone. Available at GSMNation, the Xperia Z1 sports a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, 5-inch 1080p HD display, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, 3,000 mAh battery, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Sony's UI. The Xperia Z1 is water and dust-resistant, all while keeping an exterior that measures in at 8.5mm thin. It's an exceptionally powerful phone that works on T-Mobile's LTE in the States (sorry AT&T users, no dice) - but it's costly. Is it worth the added cost? Part 2 of 2.

Bought this phone last week, Unlocked in India and Lenovo K900 32GB last month as well and i'm loving both the devices. Colors, viewing angles are great in K900 compared to Z1, i mean really better.. but then, SnapD 800 rocks..

Great review..

This is what people want to know about, is the quality of the camera and spec. It is apparent now that phones do everything really well regardless of model, but the area lacking is the camera speed, quality etc. A lot of companies are now addressing this Samsung, Sony and nokia particularly. I can not wait to see what next year brings !

I don't get why EVERYBODY complains about its sim card holder. I mean, seriously, how many times do you actually change your sim card!? If you did it every other day, sure, it'd be a problem. But I don't see how it could be considering how 99% of the world uses their phones.

as cool as that device looks the screen actually makes this device look ancient.

My point exactly Bryan. It's billed as a 5" screen and yet a large portion of that is taken up by the on screen buttons.
I sent my Z1 back as I thought it would have the same screen size as my Galaxy Note 1, (also 5" screen). But the Z1 screen is so much smaller due to those bezels. Why they couldn't put those on screen buttons in that big space at the bottom I'll never know!!
Such a shame as the phone itself is a beauty. Very well made. Lovely construction, just that damn screen.

For LTE speed, the Nokia Siemens base station here in Dallas, if you have one bar, your modulation scheme is QPSK, you are getting 7.2Mbps max, consider only 70% of it can be used, 5M download is the best you can do.

Wow, i've watched several videos of this phone, and not an instance of lag or stutter anywhere! Nothing slows this thing down!

On the camera you can only access all the features in manual 8mp mode. if you boost the mp count to 20.7 mp the you get a restricted set of settings which is kind of annoying.

Sony should've really put the home and back button on the very bottom. There is so much space! and takes up a lot of the screen

Can't deny its a big improvement on the Z - as long as they keep improving I guess. I'll be using the Nexus 4 as my main device for at least another year anyway, so who knows where they will be by then.

I had this phone for a few weeks. It's very nice. My only gripe with it was the camera. In anything less than perfect light conditions it was very poor. An update has been released though which is currently rolling out in Germany which improves the camera apparently. No idea if it's a substantial improvement like it needs to be though.

Z2 launching at CES 2014. Full HD IGZO display 500ppi, 2.3GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 800, 3GB Dual Channel LPDDR3 RAM, Same excellent camera, Better screen viewing angles and lighter phone, slimmer bezels, 3200mAh battery, water and dust resistant

they need ample time to review it thoroughly and honestly.

I know how it feels. It's like using the Nexus 4 all over again. However, the Galaxy Note has a 5.2 inch display, you gotta remember that its slightly bigger. I still feel that the screen of Z1 is smaller compared to the S4 even with On screen buttons.

You know the phone is good when the biggest flaw is the simcard holder :)

Why didn't you do the review of the Galaxy Note 3, no disrespect to the new guy?
