Hey Eddie!!! You’ve been on a long hiatus. We miss you and hope you’re doing well. I just joined the ICU a month ago and have been rewatching your videos 100x. Wishing you all the best and hope North Carolina is treating y’all well. When you get the chance we’d love see more lectures on CVP, PA, PAOP, and other more invasive hemodynamic monitoring topics. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

We use intranasal Fentanyl almost routinely for analgesia in deformed fractures in paediatrics (e.g. Banana Arms) - NHS Emergency Department (UK)

SO relieved to know there are physicians who haven’t been completely indoctrinated that opiates/ opiods are only needed in somewhat rare severe instances, thanks to the so called opioid crisis. “Let us avoid making surgical patients pay with unnecessary suffering for the opioid overprescribing sins of others.”

I really really like fentynal for sedation because I can pretty much be sure my patients aren’t in pain. I’ll titration the fent up till about a rass -1 and then finish it off with low dose propofol usually like 10-20 mikes

Used it in bedside intubation and sedation often.

Would you be able to do a video on cleviprex, nitroglycerin drips and how they work n when to use one or the other ?

What is that incidence of people developing PE or DVT while on fentanyl gtt? How long would someone have to be on the gtt to develop such adverse effect if there’s a higher incidence of the adverse event? If someone has pre-existing DVT or PE, would that be a contra indication for administering fentanyl? I look forward to your input regarding this curiosity. As always thank you for all that you provide to our healthcare community.

Hey Eddie,
Great video. Obviously it’s up to the provider but have you found any preferred guidelines to follow when tapering a patient off fentanyl? I’m always worried I’m titrating down too fast or too slow.
Thanks!

I have a question. If the patient is allergic to fentanyl and is recorded in his/her medical record, can fentanyl be given in an emergency situation such as for intubation? Or should alternative sedative be given?
