Показать описание

For the next lesson we start our discussion of sedation in ICU patients and ICU sedation medications. Sedation is something that is used frequently in critical care and it has many potential uses and benefits, but some associated risks.

We start the lesson of talking about what sedation is and what it can do for our patients. From there we move on to talk about the many different reasons that we would use sedation in the ICU and break down each of those reasons and explain a little bit more about each one. Finally we finish this lesson up talking about our monitoring of patients on sedation, specifically talking about the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS).

Hopefully after watching this lesson you will have a good foundation of understanding about ICU sedation and the purpose of its use as well as the potential benefits that can come from it. In the next lesson we will begin talking about the many various forms of sedation medication.

ICU holds are getting lengthier in stay at my facility. Sometimes over a week! Your channel has been insightful and a great resource.

Thanks for sharing. In the current pandemic, this is very useful for surge doctors and nurses who do not have the full grasp of what sedation is all about and how patients are being managed with them. Keep up the good work and I shall look forward to the part 2 of this topic. God bless you and your team.
