A short presentation on using the Kodak Zi8 HD camera

We just picked this one up off of ebay for my 7 year old who is into recording, we got tired of him taking our phones. I remeber back in the day it was this and the Flip that were the two popular ones in this space. This is a great little video camera It makes me long for the days of signle use devices like this. Well anyway my son is enjoying his and we watched this video from some tips thanks.

heyy.! my photos or videos both cannot be saved in it.! is it a defect in the camera or the SD card.? please help.!

turn camera on>press the right side of the circle with the little arrows to see the shooting choices>press the bottom or the top of the circle to go to a selection like 720P (but do this fairly fast)> press the center button to lock in your choice. That should do it.

Two things come to mind. One, make sure you are recording in HD and not on the VGA setting. VGA will look good on the LCD but grainy on the computer because of the lower resolution. Two, make sure your computer settings are for HD and not NTSC composite. Bringing in HD footage to a time line set for lower resolution will convert the HD into grainy low resolution images.

how come when i upload footage from the zi8 it shows up grainy on my comp, but its clear as day on the lcd ? how could i fix it?

Make sure you have inserted an SD card with a rating of 6 or better to record your video. These cards are not included with the camera so you can't record much with the limited internal memory. Every major store carries the card. They are easy to instal and only go in one way. I use an 8 gig, class 10 SD card.

If you have installed a card, then I am not sure why the camera is not seeing it.

That's image stabilization . It helps if you have shaky hands and you want the camera to be more still

No, that sounds weird. Make sure you have turned the camera off with that, sometimes hard to feel it click, on/off button on the upper right side. The only time I've seen the light stay on is when it is plugged in to AC for charging or shooting, the light comes on even when the camera is turned off. Good luck.
