That was a nice accurate review that covered all the strengths and weaknesses of that particular camera. Kodak just didn't seem to finish the thing off completely.

I wasn't happy with the Kodak Zi6 so I doubt I would like this either. However that option for mic sensitivity impresses me a little. Did you try it at a concert at all? Because if it can do decent sound at concerts then I am sold! Thanks for the link in the description. That will for sure help out with my video making. Awesome video!

Thank you very much for this....I currently have a JVC camcorder that I have such issues converting and editing because WMM won't take the format. So since you mentioned the issue w/ editing, it helped me make my decision better. I def. don't want to spend all eternity converting/editing! Thank you!!!

Hi Nixie, What's a good Linux video editing app to use with my old Flip?

I've used Win Movie Maker in the past, but upgraded my XP to PClinuxOS. Hey, that Samsung teaser at the end was nasty - lol!

1) Can you use the Zi8 camera as a webcam? 2) Can you film with it connected to a laptop and record on the laptop's hard drive directly? 3) Does it only work off battery, or can you use an a/c power (i.e. if I do a tripod setup and want to record for six hours? Thanks for considering answering.

But you know what, I got a feeling from the first video you posted when you got this camera that you had some reservations. Just something in that "camera" just seemed not ready for prime time, or underwhelming at the jump. I knew then, I wouldn't get one. Just wanted to see if you would come to the same conclusion.

For your audio codec, why don't you rerecord the audio to a WAV file and then sync it with Sony Vegas Pro? The only problem is synching, but hopefully it will work.

These mov files open in Final Cut Pro without any problems. With iskysoft video/audio converter you can export the audio format that will work with whatever program you are using.

Thanks for commenting rrussell21. Anyway, I hope Kodak will launch a better model with a buit-in stereo microphone. There's no sense in making a great camcorder with a mono mic.

I had the same problem with SV
but if you install quicktime and its codecs
vegas should recognize the codec.
Also make sure you allow "allow third party DV codecs" in your preferences
