Over a thousand cubic metres of lava and ash ejected?
That's not much.

If the volcano went off and I survived, I would just leave. It's depressing to be somewhere after a volcano kills everyone you ever knew and loved.

The long valley caldara is more likely to erupt in our lifetime than Yellowstone. In fact there are signs that it could be sooner than later.

How can it be powerful, when it hasn't erupted?

The yellowstone caldera does not have enough melted material to erupt.
The only two supervolcanos primed to erupt are Campi Flegri in Italy and Iwo Jima for japan.

I heard many times that Yellowstone is one of the most dangerous volcano 🌋 in USA with tremendous consequences. It always comes in my mind, as an Italian, the Vesuvius with over 3 million living around this volcano. Absolutely crazy....

Woah ace! 1000 m3 of ash??? Try 1000 cubic KILOmeters of ash. Otherwise your correct. When it erupts we will all have a very very bad day. No place to hide and you simply can’t run.

The Yellowstone Caldera would have erupted 30 years ago but it is very vain and likes all the attention it gets because it is pretty.

So in a roundabout way we need yellowstone to explode to make youtube better.

So....we should give it a poke to solve global warming?

Accurate information... But I thought...

Actually that hot spot first erupted about 16 million years ago on land. There are four or five collapsed calderas that make a trail. Nick Zentner, a Geology teacher at Central Washington University covers what is currently known in one or two of his seminars you can find on YouTube.

The long valley caldera scares me more, because of its hit to both major farmland sections of the US and Canada. (+1Billion people rely on our food exports)

Wasn’t there this “theory” flying around a few years back saying how the Yellowstone caldera is overdue for an eruption for like 50K years? And that the next major eruption could happen literally any second? What changed?

Will NEVER happen. As long as the geysers and vents are going the pressure will not build to that point.

The U.S. has three super volcanoes.. The other two are in California and in New Mexico.

At least we wouldn't have to worry about any more absolutely terrible Kardashian spin offs! ;)

It has erupted more than 3 known times. Theres a guy who taught in washington (cant remember his name) has a ton of hour+ long videos of him doing public talks and one of them was about the super volcano and the craters they have found from it from california through idaho to where the volcano is today
