My dad grew up dirt poor. Walking 15 miles up and down a steep ass mountain barefoot. He worked since he was about 12 years old. He finally retired, got cancer the following year, spent the next year deteriorating, and died 3 years after his retirement. Hey dreamt of traveling the country on the motorcycle he had just gotten, wanted to build a house in Puerto Rico. Instead he spent the majority of his life struggling, worked nights, weekends, and overtime. Spent 20+ years slaving at a factory dreaming of retirement, just to drop dead. Do yourself a favor and enjoy life while you can. 5 million dollars when you’re old and sick means nothing but a really nice casket and headstone.

Average life expectancy in the US is 77 years old. What good is $5 million at that age?

500 a month for 40 years at a 10% rate of return is about 3.16 Million. Still a lot, though.

Mine is $512 because I was dumb and went to one of those by here pay here places paying 24.1% APR on a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country, which has almost 200, 000 miles on it now when I bought it it had roughly 160, 000 miles. Since I started to seriously listen to this man, I have saved my tens of thousands of dollars over the last year and when he says it’s gonna hurt he means it but when you finally get that free or close to being debt-free, it will be worth it. I promise!

Investing in this economy is absolute insanity. Not to mention that the dollar is burning as we speak. This was good advice many many years ago. Most people don’t even live to the age of 70 now.

It's a shame to waste the best parts of your life living broke and then being 'rich' at age 70.
