Suzuki Forenza Head Prep for Machinist - Part 8 (Head Prep)

In this video, the cylinder head from a 2006 Suzuki Forenza is being prepared by taking off parts which would be in the way of the machinist. The machinist will replace all the intake and exhaust valves along with the valve guides and valve seals. Also, he will take off a skimming of the deck just to ensure the deck is perfectly flat. This is very important for aluminum heads. Enjoy and be sure to leave your questions and comments!

Hi diaz. Keep in mind that machine shop's prices vary all over the country. I'm in High Point, NC and here is the verdict of where I live. For a valve job, the price is $175. This includes a cleaning and pressure check of the head to ensure there's no cracks. I have a split valve guide, so that's another $8.00 for its removal and replacement. Also, I have some several holes that's pitted on the deck, so there's no aluminum welding needed to fill these in. That's $45.00. Finally, to ensure...cont

Thanks for the videos. I had pitting on my cylinder head causing coolant to leak into cylinder 4 giving me a misfire. I was low on cash and couldn't afford to pay someone to do aluminum welding or take it to the machine shop. In a last ditch effort I cleaned up the cylinder head and filled in my pitted areas with JB Weld and so far so good. Have been driving for a day so far and no leaks. I did check the JB Weld to make sure it could handle the temperatures on the head. Will update after about a month and let you know the the JB Weld holds up.

the deck is flat and to remove the welding, there will be a slight resurfacing of the deck. That's $35.00. These prices are labor costs only and does not include the actual pricing of the valves, guides, seals, etc. I bought these items and took them to the machine shop. Total price is $263.00 for the machine shop. And for all the valves, seals and valve guide, that will run about $150.00. Total cost about $413.00 for materials and labor. In my other post, I meant to say that there...cont

stuzman52 I have a 2007 Suzuki forenza I bought it 3 weeks ago noticed it has a small coolant leak and my car ended up overheating, I have no signs of a blown head gasket no milky oil, or bad idle sounds great should i be worried? I know i need to get the leak fixed. But I was gonna ask to what kind of signs should i look for if it could of been damage done to the engine? Anyways great videos man I might have to do all of this myself if something did happen!

I have this same engine for my 2001 Daewoo Leganza. Had the valve job done at a machine shop. My question is that if they shaved the head down would installing the shorter head make a difference in the Timing. I followed the other videos and my timing marks are off by 1 tooth.

Thank you Billy Bob for watching the videos! Did you have to pull the head on a Suzuki? If so, it's one of the easiest cars as far as head work that I've worked on. Pretty much a baby job...
