How to Build an Ultra Small Form Factor PC... and Fail Miserably

Small form factor PC builds are fun!... until something goes horribly wrong in the end. I thoroughly hope you enjoy this 30-minute tutorial that ends with the PC not being able to boot 😁

Check out the AMD Ryzen 2200G

Check out the MSI B450i

**To remove the outer shroud on an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler, grab underneath its shorter slips (180 degrees apart). These will be 90 degrees from the AMD logo. You'll need to pull with quite a bit of force, as these shrouds are glued on.**

So this is a super long video intended for those who aren't as familiar with PC building or who would like a refresher. If you're only here for the fail, it starts at 24:12. Also: I was measuring _voltage, _ not amperage. I'd need to use the clamp for that. My other multimeter probes. Should have paid attention to that 😅

24:47 As someone on a tight budget this is when I go into panic mode and start thinking "oh god what did I do!" lol.

I love it when things fail in these types of videos to learn what went wrong and how to fix it. It’s a 2-in-1 for the video.

Good to see real life not edited out because I have some problem every time I build a PC and I've built quite a few. Good job!

to answer the title you just ask the verge, im sure they have a video on how to build a pc

I appreciate that you included the bad supply as I believe a lot of people are hesitant and do not attempt to make their own computer for this simple fear or ruining a part. And this video shows them that parts can be non functional on arrival and not to worry there are usually warranties for replacements.

Even with that small hiccup there I still liked this video. It just goes to show that sometimes you can do everything right but something can still go wrong.

2/10 for lack of "tweezers" and Livestrong bracelets...

This is almost (minus the small form factor) the title The Verge should have used for their PC build.

And that's why it's wise to do a POST before stuffing everything inside the case

My case is an Antec P180B and by no means would it _ever_ be classified as small. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it came with a map. Ridiculously easy to work with (the ODD is mounted from the outside.)

A good starting point would be the Asrock A300 Deskmini case, motherboard, and power brick in one

PSU tester is a worthwhile investment. I got one to test all my PSUs before I get too far into a build.

Built a couple of office PC's in the Inwin Chopin case that has a 150w psu built in. Nice case. Installed a Noctua CPU cooler instead of the wraith and no issues really.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! I’m a intermediate builder but always learn new things when people explain step by step how to build a computer. Plus I’m sure it helps new builders as well. I always get frustrated when people on youtube take step by step instructions for granted. Keep videos like this coming. You have a subscriber for as long as you make videos. :)

2200g and 2400g are thermal paste not solder so temps will be higher than normal Ryzen chips

I don't need to learn how to build a pc, but I really enjoy watching people build these small form factor pcs.
